Job Description:

Step into a Med Surg role in Norfolk, Nebraska where your days are busy, varied, and hands-on with evidence-based care across multiple medical and surgical cases. This 12-hour day assignment supports a fast-turnover flow—so when discharges happen, new admissions can follow quickly. You’ll work with a team that values strong shift-to-shift handoff practices, including bedside shift report and proactive rounding.

You’ll care for a wide range of diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, respiratory viral illnesses, alcohol withdrawal, and surgical populations including orthopedics (hips, knees, shoulder), general surgery (appendix, gallbladder, bowel), and spinal cases (laminectomies, spinal fusions). Because telemetry support is available 24/7 via cardiac tech, you’ll coordinate monitoring needs while maintaining efficient unit workflow.

Shift details: 12-hour days, with 1.5 shifts of unit-specific orientation. You must be comfortable with EPIC documentation and bedside shift report, able to manage a typical 1:5–6 patient workload (must be able to take a 1:6 ratio), and experienced with medication drip titration—including heparin and set-rate diuretics such as bumetanide and furosemide.

Expect a mix of mild-to-warm days and cooler evenings, with occasional breezes and variability in conditions. Bring layers for comfort through temperature swings and potential light precipitation.
