Job Description:

Step into a fast-paced ED setting in Charlotte, where every shift brings a mix of adult and pediatric emergencies—from stroke care and respiratory complaints to chest pain, abdominal concerns, and complex metabolic situations. This 13-week travel contract is for an experienced RN focused on emergency department workflow and rapid stabilization, including heavy trauma cases such as GSWs and stabbings, along with a high-acuity population with significant mental health and substance use needs.

You’ll work 12-hour days in a unit with 34 beds/32 vertical care areas and typical staffing patterns of variable RN ratios. The ED averages 200+ patients per day, using EPIC and Phillips monitors with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing. You’ll apply emergency-specific skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, critical care drips, and medication administration such as TNK/TPA, as well as experience with conscious sedation. Required credentials include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI required), with TNCC preferred.

Support is built into the department with CNA staff, a receptionist, and a charge nurse—plus you may be asked to float within the region based on operational needs and scope of practice. Orientation includes 2 days of departmental training, and the schedule follows a 6-week cycle with every-other-weekend rotation. No call required.

Weather:

Expect warm, generally sunny days with occasional humidity and brief rain showers. Evenings can feel cooler, making it easy to transition from indoor shifts to time outdoors.

Fun Things To Do:

- Carolina Raptor Center (Day Trip): See live birds and enjoy a guided, nature-focused visit just outside the city.
- U.S. National Whitewater Center (Day Trip): Try outdoor recreation and views along the water—great for an active break.
- Discovery Place Science (Day Trip): Hands-on exhibits and an engaging indoor outing for all ages.
- Bechtler Museum of Modern Art: A standout spot for art lovers in Uptown Charlotte.
- Freedom Park: Walk trails, relax with open green space, and catch local atmosphere.
