Best Places to Work 2017

Here at Atlas, we aren't much for awards. We let our actions speak for us. But I'm going to break the rules this time. I apologize in advance.

Early last month we were notified by Inc Magazine that we made their Top 50 Best Places to Work in the United States for Mid-Sized Companies 50-99 employees.

What the website doesn't mention (you have to buy their magazine for this part) is that we actually placed 5th in that category.

Top Five. Best Places to Work. In the United States.

I added the punctuation and spacing for emphasis because it's still a bit hard to fathom. We aren't anything special really. Our office space is very simple. No fancy juice machines, game rooms, nap pods, or golf simulators. We show up, work hard, then go home to our families. We do what is right for the nurses that work for us. Sometimes that means the company loses money. Sometimes it means we work extra to make things right. In the end though, it's about our nurse in the hospital. It's not complicated.

Maybe that's why we were awarded this honor. We believe in giving our internal staff all the tools they need to succeed, and then get out of their way. From that, our staff can give our nurses 100% every day. So when it came time to fill out this survey from Inc Magazine, our internal employees gave our workplace and culture the highest rankings they could.

So in the big picture, what does this mean? Nothing really. We will still show up, work hard, and then go home to our families. But now we have some validation that what we've done for the past five years works. That operating differently works. That giving our internal employees the freedom they need to succeed isn't contrary to business philosophy. It's a new business philosophy. It empowers the individual with respect and honor. It promotes individuality rather than top down disconnected decision making.

And with all this, Atlas continues to grow. Last year, Inc Magazine named Atlas the 46th Fastest Growing Company in the Country. Weird how all that worked out.
