Job Description:

Join a fast-paced, high-stakes Emergency Department as a registered nurse on 12-hour night shifts. This contract offers a unique opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma Center known for its teaching programs, specialized units, and advanced facilities. You will manage a diverse array of critical patients, including trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, and overdose cases, often involving highly acute situations like cardiac arrest, severe trauma, or complex resuscitations. Your role will involve leading evidence-based nursing care, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting a busy ED with patient ratios ranging from 3:1 to 6:1, tailored to acuity.

This assignment is perfect for experienced RNs with at least two years of trauma or emergency care experience, especially those familiar with Level 1 trauma centers. Expect to be involved in airway management, sedation, defibrillation, and other advanced procedures. You’ll work closely with ED Techs, unit secretaries, and a supportive team of critical care pharmacists, paramedics, and hospitalists to deliver exceptional care. The role also includes a brief two-day orientation to familiarize you with the facility’s state-of-the-art equipment, Epic EMR system, and protocols. The hospital’s renovation will expand helicopter access, offering a glimpse into the future of trauma transport at this facility.
