Job Description:

Join a travel contract as a Neuro Surgical MS RN to support a busy neuro and neuro-surgical unit in Newburgh, Indiana. This 12-hour day shift schedule runs from 6:30–7:00, with guaranteed 36 hours per week (and the option to request 48 hours). You’ll apply strong neuro assessment skills while working with a patient mix that includes CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op crani care activities, and cerebral angiogram support, along with general medical and psych needs.

What makes this assignment unique: you’ll float within your skillset first, with potential cross-campus support between the Deaconess Gateway and Deaconess Midtown campuses (and occasionally Deaconess Henderson, KY). You should be ready for mid-shift float within the same campus and cross-campus float on a 2-hour notice when needed. The unit emphasizes leadership and welcomes travelers, and you may be asked to precept students and new hires in a teaching-hospital setting.

Required credentials include an active compact RN license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS. Recent EPIC charting experience is required (including an on-site checkoff class). Expect to use tools like NIHSS, dysphagia screening, NG tube workflows, indwelling drain management, initiation/titration of heparin drips, and tele interpretation as part of daily practice—bringing steady, thoughtful critical thinking to each shift.
