Job Description:

Join a Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down team in Wausau, Wisconsin, supporting a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit focused on fast-paced post-op and acute cardiac needs. This travel nursing contract offers 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730) and the chance to float to other inpatient units as needed. You’ll work with a varied mix of cases including post-op CABG/valve procedures, thoracotomy and vascular interventions, arrhythmias, CHF, post-procedure cath care, pacers/defibrillators, ablations, and medical overflow such as DKA and COPD exacerbations.

On this assignment, low census is handled through eligibility for 36 hours of unbillable low-census time that may be scheduled in 4-hour increments—meaning you may occasionally be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. Every other weekend and every other holiday scheduling helps keep your rhythm predictable while still meeting unit needs.

Required qualifications include a current WI RN license, BLS, and ACLS (AHA or ARC), along with the ability to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire. You’ll need 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU) and 2 years of IMC/PCU/Tele experience, plus at least one completed travel assignment and 1 year of recent Epic charting experience.
