Job Description:

Step into a high-acuity ICU environment in Albany, Georgia, where your nights make a real difference. This travel contract is for a critical care nurse supporting a specialized 20-bed unit with a typical 2:1 staffing model, with occasional 1:1 coverage based on acuity. You’ll care for a focused mix of complex cases, including neurologic patients with herniation and “brain drain” scenarios, orthopedic trauma requiring traction, and cardiovascular technology-supported patients such as balloon pumps, Impella, and EKOS devices.

You’ll also support post-op open-heart CABG patients, manage open abdomens from the OR that are sometimes reopened at bedside, and help with a unit prepared for an ECMO program planned to begin this summer. Renal patients are a major part of the workload, including bedside CRRT, with nurses running therapy at the bedside.

The assignment is built around specialized ICU knowledge layered on top of ICU/STICU experience in Level 1–2 trauma centers. There is a strict 75-mile radius restriction, and medical ICU patients may be placed in this unit when sister units are at capacity. It’s demanding work—steady, structured, and hands-on from start to finish.
