Job Description:

Join a fast-paced ICU team in Kearney, Nebraska as an experienced RN supporting critically ill adult patients across a broad mix of complex diagnoses, including trauma, cardiac events, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. This travel contract is built around 12-hour nights, with a 48-hour workweek cadence and an every-other-weekend schedule.

In this role, you’ll manage adult ICU assignments with typical ratios of 1:2–3, work closely with nurse aides as needed based on census, and rely on monitoring and tele support systems to keep care on track. You will be responsible for reading, interpreting, and documenting monitoring/tele strips; the monitor brand used is GE. You’ll also titrate select infusions, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation—using your clinical judgment to adjust therapy as ordered.

Unique to this assignment: the ICU environment is supported by healthcare support tech coverage three days per week (M–F) from 0800–1630, and you may float to PCU or occasionally MedSurg while maintaining the typical assignment ratio used on those units (1:4 or 1:5). RT equipment is available (including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow systems); beyond troubleshooting, the RN role also includes managing nasal cannula to vent when needed. Orientation includes one ICU-specific orientation shift, with required passing performance on a Wednesday orientation process including a pass/fail skills component and an open-book exam.
