Job Description:

Step into a travel contract as a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN in Concord, North Carolina—supporting patients across a mix of post-surgical diagnoses and complex monitoring needs. This 12-hour night shift role centers on the rhythms of night-to-morning care: continuous assessment, managing hemodynamic support drips when applicable, maintaining lines and advanced tubes, and staying ready for evolving surgical-case turns. You’ll work within a unit that blends direct workflow support with strong teamwork—benefiting from charge nurse coverage, resource support on night shift, and department technology including Epic, Alaris pumps, and Omnicell.

Common cases include HPB procedures (such as Whipples and liver resections), women’s surgery like hysterectomies and mastectomies, and plastic surgery involving DIEP flap breast reconstruction and panniculectomy. The department uses RN assignment ratios typically around 1:4-6, with occasional surge times. You’ll also be expected to confidently handle drain care, central line management, G/J tubes, NGT placement/management, and heparin and cardiac gtt management, along with cardiac rhythm interpretation. NIHSS is required (as a Resource Team expectation).

Over the contract length, expect a consistent schedule pattern (every other weekend) with 75% holiday expectations, plus the possibility of regional floating within scope of practice if needed—only if you’re agreeable.
