Job Description:

This step-down Registered Nurse position in UVA’s 4 East unit offers an engaging opportunity to work in an intermediate and acute care setting dedicated to Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular surgery patients. You’ll be responsible for managing postoperative care for patients undergoing procedures like CABG, heart and lung transplants, and limb amputations. The role involves caring for patients on the TIMU and acute care beds, with monitoring needs ranging from basic to advanced, including patients on cardiac drips and arterial lines. Expect to work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, every other weekend and holiday, with flexibility for 36 hours per week and the possibility of 40 hours off. This assignment is 13 weeks long and offers the chance to be part of a specialized surgical recovery team, adapting to patients’ evolving needs in a fast-paced environment.
