The Atlas Life
The Atlas Life #31 - Ronnie Robinette, Traveling Nurse & Recruiter
09-28-2018
You may remember Ronnie from The Atlas Life: Episode 21. Now, Ronnie is stepping into a new role as an Atlas Recruiter. Learn about her transition in today's episode of The Atlas Life.
Christy: She totally talks so highly of Atlas and all of the places she's been. She helps a lot of the newer travelers out. She's always in there talking about how nurses can get their next assignment and which locations to go to and how to be super flexible. So yeah, she's great.
Rich: Maybe she'd make a good recruiter one day.
Christy: She is... Absolutely, she would make her a great recruiter. I agree.
Ronnie R.: So I was going to wait until next week or Monday to give my big announcement on my next venture in life. But I'm so excited that I'm going to tell you right now. So we just got to Omaha, we'll be here for three weeks and I'm super, super excited because I'm going to now be recruiting for Atlas MedStaff.
Ronnie R.: So I guess you couldn't tell by the shirt and the cap.
Ronnie R.: My name is Ronnie Robinette. I have been with Atlas MedStaff as a nurse for two and a half, almost three years, and I've been a recruiter for four days. I have been trying to make the transition to recruiter for about two years now. I love being a nurse. I love taking care of my patients and I'm really excited to be able to take care of my fellow nurses now. So it did take me a good two years at least to be able to get in the door and get to where I am now.
Ronnie R.: When I started to make the change to recruiter, I had been talking to Rich about it for a while and so he knew that I wanted to do it, but we kind of never really seriously talked about it. And so, then I did my Atlas [life 00:01:42] and Rich talked to Christy, my recruiter, and they're like, "She would be a great recruiter." And so then I'm like, "Yeah, well I'm ready to do it, so let's roll." So that's kind of when we put on the gas and got it going.
Ronnie R.: I want to switch to recruiting because I do want to help my fellow nurses out. I feel like there's a lot of misconceptions and bad information about our travel industry, and I really love the travel industry. It's definitely somewhere that I can see myself being in the long run, whether it be a nurse or a recruiter. So, I want to help out new nurses. I have a lot of friends who are new to travel nursing and they see all this bad information out there and it just really gets to me at my core, because I know that it's not true and they're going to have a bad experience based on this information that they're getting. So that's kind of what my why is for wanting to be a recruiter.
Ronnie R.: I am most excited about being able to continue to travel while I work as a recruiter. And I am really excited about being able to go out and meet nurses in the places that I do go, and be able to treat them and say, "Atlas MedStaff is why we're out here doing this today." I think an Atlas recruiter is, they're honest, they're upfront with their nurses. We are very transparent and we want the best for the nurses. Even if they don't have a nursing background because most recruiters don't. They still want the best for their nurses. We look at you as a part of our family too.
Ronnie R.: After I do my assignment in California, I'm not really sure what is next. So we travel, my husband travels with me, and we travel with a friend of ours who's also a nurse who works for Atlas. Kind of just see where it takes us. We're true wandering souls. So, and we love it that way. So, I don't know what's next, but I'll be with Atlas wherever I'm at.
