Job Description:

Step into a fast-paced emergency department environment as an RN on 12-hour nights in McCall, Idaho. This travel contract supports a busy ER footprint with 8 beds, including 2 trauma bays (one bariatric bay and one negative pressure isolation room). When all beds are full, you’ll utilize the triage room to move patients from the lobby for bedside triage. You’ll see a wide clinical mix—CAH, strokes, STEMIs, sepsis, and frequent traumas such as recreational mountain bike injuries, utility vehicle crashes, ski accidents, horse incidents, and winter/snow-related bike events. You may also encounter critical pediatrics (stabilize and transfer at ICU level by flight or ambulance to Boise, typically over 2 hours away).

Night shift staffing includes 2 RNs with 1:4 ratios, with CNA support from 10p–10a during summer months. The work involves preparing rooms between patients, managing common ER drips and critical-care infusions, and supporting care for a variable daily volume—slow season typically 12–15 patients/day, rising seasonally to high-volume months with 30–40 patients/day.

Expect cool temperatures with crisp air and the potential for snow and winter storms. Evenings can be very chilly, and conditions may change quickly, so layers and warm outerwear are recommended.
