Job Description:

Join a cardiac telemetry/step-down team in Wausau, Wisconsin, delivering focused care in a fast-paced 44-bed intermediate cardiac unit. This travel contract is built around 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730), with 48 hours/week guaranteed to keep your schedule predictable. Your day-to-day will include caring for a wide mix of step-down and telemetry needs—post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular cases, arrhythmias, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacers/defibrillators, ablations, and acute events such as CP/MI—plus med/surg overflow when units shift. Expect a typical 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and a workflow where high turnover and rapid transitions are part of the rhythm.

This assignment is unique in the way it blends specialty cardiac step-down expertise with flexibility: you may float to other inpatient units as needed, and you could work reduced hours during low census periods in 4-hour increments (with eligible low census time treated as unbillable). Required qualifications: WI RN license, BLS, and ACLS (AHA or ARC). Must be able to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire. Minimum experience: 1 year strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU) plus 2 years IMC/PCU/Tele. Candidates cannot move forward without experience with amiodarone, diltiazem, and nitro drips. At least one completed travel assignment is required, and 1 year recent EPIC charting experience is required.
