Job Description:

Join a medical-surgical environment as a Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel contract in Wilmington, North Carolina. This role focuses on caring for patients with complex injury and neurological diagnoses, supporting day-to-day unit needs across night shifts. You’ll work within a structured workflow using Epic documentation and SBAR communication, with systems including Pyxis. The shift schedule is 12-hour nights, with unit orientation and organizational education provided during the onboarding process.

This assignment is built for nurses who can manage a wide range of acute care tasks on the night shift, including heparin drips, PCA, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and phlebotomy. Experience with non-invasive airway management, O2 protocol management, dysrhythmia management, isolation precautions/PPE, traumatic brain injury/ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), tracheostomy management, wound care, and supporting patients with traumatic neurological conditions is essential.

Travelers are supported as 1st-time travelers are accepted. You’ll also be expected to float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations as needed, and you will work every other weekend. Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty/disaster response.

Expect warm, humid conditions with periodic rain and comfortable evenings. Coastal weather can bring quick changes, so it’s good to plan for muggy days and occasional storms.
