Job Description:

Step into a 12-hour night stepdown contract in Newburgh, Indiana, where your days are built around focused clinical assessment, crisp execution, and ICU-adjacent stepdown momentum. You’ll care for a patient mix that commonly includes cardiac post-cath stent/intervention care, pacers, CIWA/BH monitoring, sepsis, DKA, CVA, CPAP management, feeding tubes, and post-procedure recovery such as crani POD 2. Expect neuro and stroke workflows with NIHSS and dysphagia screening, plus hands-on work initiating and titrating drips such as antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin.

This assignment is known for strong unit teamwork—fantastic CNA support and helpful charge nurses—plus opportunities to float as needed within your skillset. You may float between Deaconess Gateway and the Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (about 8 miles apart), with a longer cross-campus float possible to Deaconess Henderson (KY) (about 11 miles). Mid-shift float within the same campus is a possibility, with 2 hours’ notice for cross-campus float.

AHA BLS and AHA ACLS, along with NIHSS, are required. Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation is required—travelers must pass tele tests. You’ll also use recent Epic experience (a checkoff class will be required).
