Job Description:
Step into a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse role with a high-volume, nationally recognized focus on safe sleep practices. This travel contract brings you to Bangor, Maine, supporting a Level III NICU and Newborn Nursery within a goal-designated safe sleep facility. You’ll work in a unit designed for smooth flow between Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby, where these areas sit side-by-side in a locked, circular layout.
As an L&D RN, you’ll handle a typical rhythm of care that includes scheduled events (such as C-sections and versions) and ongoing labor support—often involving active fetal monitoring, cervical exams, Pitocin titration, insulin and magnesium drip management, and participation in shoulder dystocia response. You may also assist with epidural placement and collaborate closely during operative moments, including receiving the newborn in the OR when needed. When the mother remains on the unit for continuous surveillance, you’ll document feeds and vitals and perform newborn assessment support while testing is completed by Mother-Baby staff.
This assignment is built for experienced travelers (at least 2 years in Labor & Delivery, and no first-time travelers—must have completed a comparable assignment). Expect fast-paced clinical moments tied to a steady volume of deliveries and a wide referral base across a large geographic area where NICU-level needs are centralized.
Weather:
Expect cool, crisp conditions with a mix of cloudy days and occasional rain, plus chilly evenings. Snow and icy patches are possible, so layering and weather-ready gear are a good fit.

- Day Trip: Acadia National Park
